Saudi Mechanical Industry Co. - Chief Strategy Officer

Ahmed has been with Saudi Mechanical industries (SMI) since 1998. Started at the company as a procurement engineer, then became head of Operations in 2006. During his time as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ahmed, managed several vertical integration and manufacturing expansion projects including the establishment of four metal foundries with a total casting capacity of 40,000 tons per annum. One of SMI's foundries included the largest fully automated ferrous sand-casting foundry in Saudi Arabia with a casting capacity of 6 tons per hour.

Ahmad played a key role in developing export markets for SMI in the USA and Europe, supplying 100% Made in Saudi Arabia machined castings and engineered mechanical parts to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the pump and heavy equipment industries.

Currently, Ahmed is the CSO of SMI. Also, he is a researcher and a visiting academic at Alliance Manchester Business School in the University of Manchester.
